Following Miles' trip with Warchild

Um Bongo

with 2 comments

Unlike popular myth, or advertising jingles from when I was younger, shops in the Congo are unaware of the sugary sweet fruity drink, Um Bongo.

But then I knew that before I came out here. And managed to track some down…

So here’s me, drinking Um Bongo, in the Congo, as it would have been very rude not to.

Oh – there’s been another power outage here, so I’m uploading this whilst I still can…

  1. I guess “Um Bongo Um Bongo, they drink it in the Democratic Republic of Congo” doesn’t really scan. Isn’t the Congo next door?

    • Congo next door is the Republic of Congo though, no? Just without the democratic bit? Oddly, there is some food in the Lingale speaking region called Mbongo, but haven’t been able to find out what it is yet.
